Dorcas is the epitome of a Hufflepuff. Over her years at Hogwarts, she did the hard work necessary in order to get good grades and do well in a world that she had only just been introduced to, especially in the years of the big exams. She's as loyal as can be to those she calls her own, defending them to the ends of the earth and absolutely willing to get in other peoples' faces if necessary, especially if they decide to mess with those that she considers part of her circle - which, to be fair, is quite a few people due to the fact that she tried to amass as many friends as possible during her school years, and was rather successful at it. She had many acquaintances and friends, though this left her with very few best or close friends. She is as optimistic as can be, believing that anything can turn out well and will be good if you approach it with the right attitude. Of course, this irritates some (especially since she's a morning person), but Dorcas doesn't take it personally most of the time since she realises how irritating it can be to those who don't exactly think in the same way that she does. But she's an open book, free with most everything she thinks and feels, to the point of almost brutal honesty — softened by a smile or an offer of help or a compliment. The only thing she keeps to herself is her home life, which she doesn't see as much of an issue, especially not one that she would need to talk about or share with others.
Being sociable is one of her best traits. She can talk to anyone about anything, and could talk until the day ends, to the point of it seeming like she's completely unable to shut up. She's good at listening though, willing to hear out anyone's problems and help them if she's able to, though she's terrible at giving advice - any she gives come with a warning about how bad it can be beforehand, just in case. A disclaimer in case things go badly.
She's short-tempered, easily pissed off, especially when it comes to her friends. Generally she's quick to calm, though if it's bad enough it will only be once she's shouted that she will stop being so angry. It's something she has needed to work on, inherited off of her mother, and she copies the ways her mother dealt with it when she can (breathing, counting to ten, stepping away from the situation etc). Even her friends can be the subject of her ire, though she'll try and keep away from them if it ends up like that, in case she ends up saying something that she will eventually come to regret.
Despite being a 'Puff and a hard worker, over the years she's found herself procrastinating uncontrollably. Most of the hard work she did was last minute, though somehow it ended up working for her and she ended up with relatively good grades anyway - nothing to scoff at, at least.
As her dormmates know, she's messy, and only cleans up when the mess gets absolutely terrible (which could take a while). She's working on it though, especially since she has her own shop to run. Other than that, she can be quite selfish in small things, like keeping a book that someone else needed, or taking the last cake. Or sometimes even putting her own happiness above others', if it came down to it, though she tries to hide this and not let it happen.

FAMILY one (1) muggle father, one (1) muggle mother.
Dorcas was raised in a completely normal muggle family, like any other normal muggle girl - apart from the cases of accidental magic, which her parents tried to brush off as silly little accidents. She went to primary school, junior school, infant school, learnt about basic maths and science and English, lived her little kid life in a way that any muggle kid would. She wanted to be something cool when she was growing up, like a superhero. A doctor would have been her second choice had that not worked out.
So finding out she was a witch was probably the best moment of her life, being able to have cool powers that other people couldn't do (ignoring the fact that there was a whole society of people who could do those things). It would have been even better had her parents decided it wasn't amazing, in fact they were quite put off by it and were slightly distant with her from then on, though being 11 and a small child she didn't pick up on it until the summer after she returned from Hogwarts.
Her Hogwarts years were great, something she would look back on with a smile, mostly. There was a bit of an issue with her being a muggleborn with some people (though she's not going to be naming any names, of course), though this only made her more determined to do the best she could in the school to prove that muggleborns could be just as good as others and in fact weren't something to be looked down upon.
Arriving home from school got worse each summer, as she spent more time sending owls or reading her school books or talking about how amazing magic was. Eventually it got to the point where instead she would spend most of her days outside of the house, away from her parents and exploring or visiting with her friends instead, which was a much easier alternative to feeling suffocated in a house where her parents would barely talk to her.
Initially she had hoped to be an auror when she graduated from Hogwarts, but this ended up being a dream that wouldn't come true. Instead, once she graduated, she decided to move out of her home as soon as she could. After discussing it with her parents, they agreed to give her some money to start up her own shop, and after a year of working in the Muggle world at different cafés, restaurants, and even as a secretary once, all in order to save up the rest of the funds necessary to buy it, she immediately went there, moved in to the apartment above it, and spent whatever she had left on fixing it up into a café, Sweetea. She hasn't really spoken to her parents since, however.
Now people are appearing from no where, and it's all very strange even for magic.

DADA
Defence was one of her favourite subjects in school, one of the bases of her wanting to be an auror (the other a lingering dream of being a superhero). This was the subject she worked hardest in, even as her dream slowly shifted.
Potions/cooking
The pastries in her cafe come from somewhere! She's good at cooking and baking, and with this comes some skill in potions. Though not her best subject, she's passable.
Divination
She was one of the idiots who took this in school. She enjoyed it, most of the time. Being able to drink tea during a lesson was fun. And reading the leaves was okay too.
Runes
Her other elective. Another subject she was interested in and worked hard at, and thus one of her best subjects.
She did ballet when she was a kid?
So she can dance.
Transfiguration/Herbology
Two of her worst subjects, something she is only good at with a passable level. Plants liked to bite her, even ones without teeth.
